Digital Printing for Folding Cartons & Paperboard Packaging
The PackJet 2800 is designed for digital printing applications in folding cartons and paperboard packaging. Equipped with 24 Epson I3200 printheads, the system features a reported printing speed of 500 m²/h in 2-pass mode, a specified paper weight range of 120–450 g/m², and feeder-based production. A digital printing solution for folding cartons and paperboard packaging, designed to support flexible production across coated paper, white paperboard and selected greyboard applications.
Produce customized folding cartons and paperboard packaging with a digital printing workflow designed for short runs, multiple SKUs and changing packaging requirements.

Flexible production for smaller orders and customized designs.

Manage different product designs and packaging versions.

Prepare packaging samples for design review and market testing.

Support limited editions, promotional designs and seasonal collections.

The PackJet 2800-24, engineered for folding carton and paperboard packaging digital printing and fitted with 24 Epson I3200 printheads to deliver high-throughput two-pass printing with single-sheet feeding and platform drying, targets packaging converters and printing manufacturers for use on coated paper, white paperboard and other approved paperboard substrates. Application testing has demonstrated its wide colour gamut, high colour saturation, sharp reproduction of 2 mm text and Grade A results in finished barcode verification, while final print quality and production performance depend on the substrate, artwork, ink conditions, drying settings and finishing requirements.
Different paperboard substrates require different preparation, printing and finishing checks.

Check coating compatibility, ink adhesion, drying and finishing performance.

Evaluate background consistency, brand colours, fine text, feeding stability and folding results.

Evaluate printed-paper mounting or direct printing separately, subject to substrate and machine compatibility.
From artwork preparation to finished packaging.
Check artwork, dielines, imposition and colour files.
Inspect material, flatness and feeding conditions.
Print approved artwork using specified machine settings.
Inspect colour, fine details, adhesion and drying.
Coating, lamination, die-cutting, creasing and folding as required.
Check appearance, dimensions, folds, bonding and final use.
Each material follows its own preparation and finishing requirements.

Key checks: coating compatibility, small text, gradients, drying, stacking set-off and post-print finishing.

Key checks: whiteness, colour consistency, registration, feeding stability and cracking or ink loss after folding.

A route to evaluate for rigid gift boxes, presentation boxes and book-style boxes. Validate adhesive compatibility, flatness, bubbles and edge lifting.

Direct printing requires confirmation of board thickness, surface properties, feeding stability and safe printhead clearance.

Colour performance demonstrated in application testing.
Clear reproduction of small text in completed testing.
Grade A results achieved in completed barcode verification.
Validate adhesion, drying, scuff resistance and converting performance.
Recommended validation also includes colour consistency, ink adhesion, drying and stacking, die-cutting and folding performance, and feeding stability.
